My Dear Creative Heart a Valentine's letter

Feb 14, 2025

It is the month of love and so I decided to write this newsletter as a love letter to you.

I see you. I see the weight you carry, the quiet doubts that creep in when no one is looking, the moments you wonder if what you create, lead, or bring into this world is enough. I see the exhaustion of always holding the vision, the loneliness that sometimes whispers, "Does anyone truly understand?"

So let me say this: you are not alone.

I know what it feels like to wake up and feel like you're moving through fog, unable to see the horizon ahead. That feeling of horizonlessness—when inspiration feels out of reach and every step forward feels uncertain. But love, the way forward isn’t in forcing yourself to push harder; it’s in allowing yourself to soften into the unknown.

Try this: close your eyes for a moment. Take a deep breath. Let go of the need for an answer right now. The next step will come when you give yourself permission to simply be.

And then, there’s the loneliness. The kind that isn’t just about being alone but about feeling unseen, even in a room full of people. I know that feeling. You, my love, are doing brave, brilliant work, and sometimes the road of a creator, a leader, a visionary can feel isolating. But connection is closer than you think.

The next time you sip your coffee at your favourite spot, exchange a smile. Say hello. The next time you feel resistance to reaching out, do it anyway. Your people—those who see you, who get you, who remind you of your magic—are waiting.

And oh, the pressure. The constant hum of "more, faster, better." The fear that resting means falling behind. But my darling, you are not a machine. Your brilliance is not measured in outputs. Your worth is not tied to productivity. Your creativity, your leadership, your presence—it all flows best when you honour your own rhythms.

So please, rest when you need to. Not just because you’ve "earned it," but because you are a living, breathing soul, deserving of care.

And when life throws its storms? When the doubt creeps in, when plans fall apart, when the pressure builds? This is where your power lies—not in controlling the chaos, but in how you choose to respond.

The next time frustration rises, try this: pause. Take a breath. Soften. You have more control than you think, simply by choosing your response.

So here’s what I want you to do this month: just one small thing to honour yourself. One moment of stillness. One step toward connection. One choice to respond with grace rather than fear.

Because the world needs you, love. Your ideas. Your art. Your voice. Not a perfect, polished version of you—but the real, raw, beautiful human you already are.
